Cookery By Ronnie with Bibendum’s Hidden Gems 1st March 2012
Take a tour of our wine list with Kirsty Armstrong. Kirsty and Ronnie have selected 7 little gems from the list for you to try. The event will last about an hour and is priced at £15 per person. Arrive at 6:45 to be seated by 7pm. Then enjoy the first in a series of fabulous events where Ronnie gets stuck into the kitchen and cooks up a storm. Each event will have a different theme and this one is titled ‘Bistro Classics from a Modern Kitchen’. The clue is in the title so don’t expect a cliché. Each of the Cookery by Ronnie events will be held at both restaurants and this event will be held in Clifton on 22nd February 2012.
This is two seperate events, Hidden Gems is £15 and Cookery by Ronnie is £35, so come and join us for either, and if you would like to join us for both events, we’ll give you 15% off your food bill. Click here to book your place.

Introducing our new Wine Merchant’s Range-
At Ronnie’s of Thornbury we’ve noticed things have changed. Most alarmingly we’ve noticed our customers are buying less wine. Being a firm believer that a good meal can only become great in the presence of friends and a bottle of fine wine, I’ve introduced our “off license” range.
The ‘Wine Merchant’s’ range includes a selection of fabulous wines that we are making available to buy at retail prices so you can take them home. And to make the offer even more attractive, you can drink them in the restaurant for a small corkage of £5. The offer excludes Saturday evenings. Buy a case of 6 and we’ll give you a further 10% discount.
I’ve taken these steps as a result of taking over a restaurant that was previously a BYO establishment. I realised that the previous proprietor and I had a common goal, which is to sell food. The wine is merely a catalyst to a great evening and a full restaurant. However my passion for wine has prohibited me from converting to a BYO restaurant, but rather brought me to the negotiating table with my wine suppliers. I believe I’ve found the perfect solution to bring you, my customer, a fantastic selection of wine at prices that could change the way we buy wine in restaurants. Come and see for yourself and you’ll find wines on offer at half the price of our competitors.
This is a trial, but if it goes well, I’ll change my whole list. I’ve listed the wines on offer below and look forward to seeing you soon. All the best,Ronnie

Dinner with Trinity Hill Wines- Meet the producer 27th September
Meet the man behind the wines of Trinity Hill, New Zealand. Whilst my primary objective is to sell you a seat at a fantastic dinner with each course paired with one of John Hancock’s wines, my motivations run a little deeper.
Running and operating a restaurant is primarily about delivering a culinary experience. In a quest to stay competitive and because it’s just great fun, we keep a watchful eye on what’s coming into season and who’s making waves. The net is not just cast from the kitchen, but from the cellar too, which needs constant replenishing.
We discovered Trinity Hill wines whilst setting up the restaurant in Clifton and introduced a Pinot Noir from the estate to the list, shortly after, a cracking dessert wine was added to the list in Thornbury and will soon be added to all of my lists. I have become a great fan of Trinity Hill so I jumped at the chance to meet the man behind the wine on his next tour of Europe. I would have been content to spend an hour or so one afternoon, tasting his portfolio. But I couldn’t resist the chance to ask for a little more. I must have hit the right cord, as John agreed to join us for a dinner in Thornbury on the 27th of September.
The dinner will follow our successfully tried and tested formula of a 5-course dinner with six wines priced at £60 per person. The menu will be published shortly and John will introduce the wine, give us a little background to Trinity Hill, the wines of Hawkes Bay and the incredible depth of wine producing regions in New Zealand.
Please call the restaurant directly on 01454 411137 to reserve your seat and book early if you would like to come. A quarter of the room has been sold already so don’t delay call today.
Breakfast at Ronnie’s Now
They say that a good breakfast sets you up for the rest of the day, so George and his team have set about introducing a breakfast menu. The concept has been well received with offerings of the classic Full English through to Eggs Benedict. All offered with free coffee or tea and toast. The offer fits in well with Ronnie’s ethos and helps complete the ever-evolving offer.
The eggs are sourced locally from Nathe Farm, which is about 3 miles away from the restaurant. We keep our stocks of eggs quite low as we can have the delivered within the hour. They are always fresh and poach beautifully.
Tim from the butchery next door, Traditional Meats of Thornbury makes our sausages for us and sources our bacon. He also stocks Nathe Farm eggs encase of an emergency.
We are trying to break into social media, giving you the chance to give us direct feedback whilst spreading the word across the web too. We have a twitter feed on our website and have uploaded a facebook page, so why not join us.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Midweek Dinner with Wine £32.50 for 2
Ronnie’s has always been about making great food accessible. This summer we’ve decided to focus all our efforts on one fixed price menu. The menu is available at lunch, Tuesday to Saturday priced at £9.75 for 2 course. And Tuesday to Thursday evenings with a £3 supplement.
To make the offer even more attractive we’re discounting your first, large glass of Pinard house wine to only £3.
