Clare Thatcher is a fine artist based in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire UK. Clare attended UWE, Bristol (2011-14), graduating with a First Class BA Honours Degree in Drawing & Applied Arts, and then studied at Bath Spa University (2014-2015) gaining a MA in Fine Art. She exhibits her work regularly and has had shows across the country (eg London, Nottingham, Bristol and Bath).
Clare is an artist who draws and a painter who uses drawing as a primary means of expression. Clare continues to be absorbed by the idea of liminal space in landscape, using the British landscape as part of the process of discovery. Transition and consequences of perpetual flux are referenced within her oil paintings. Place is very selective, personal and resonant to particular thought, emotion and reflection. The emphasis is upon the sense of contemplation within place. Clare’s search for the exact colour and sensation of place remains central to the development of her practice.
